2025 AGM and Conference

With CSSEA’s 2025 AGM and Conference, Sparking Innovation, now less than one month away, we encourage those who plan to attend the event to register at their earliest convenience. Several sessions are now either full or close to capacity, so we look forward to a strong turnout and productive learnings in Kelowna. We are also excited to celebrate this year’s awards recipients at our 10th anniversary Community Social Services Awards of Excellence, sponsored by TELUS. We congratulate:

Rising Star – Biljana Kuzmanovska from North Shore Disability Resource Centre
Hero – Jeanie Hollis from Teddy Bear Daycare, Kootenai Community Centre Society
Leader – Tara Tschritter from Turning Points Collaborative Society
Legend – David Young from Sources Community Resource Centres

For full conference, AGM and awards details, including a link to our registration page, please consult our conference website.

Collective Bargaining Resumes

Following nearly a month away from the bargaining table, CSSEA’s Bargaining Team and the Community Social Services Bargaining Association (CSSBA) have resumed negotiations. The parties have made progress on a number of non-monetary proposals and have additional dates scheduled throughout this month, into November. CSSEA will continue to keep the membership apprised of key updates throughout the fall.

CSSEA Office Move

CSSEA will be vacating its downtown Vancouver office at the end of September and moving to an office in East Vancouver that is co-located with the other provincial employers’ associations. The move is aligned with provincial expenditure management efforts and is expected to reduce overhead costs through shared infrastructure with other employers’ associations. We anticipate the move (particularly of our server) will result in one or two business days where CSSEA’s website and access to e-mail will be out of service. We will provide ample notice prior to these service disruptions and ensure staff can be reached on their direct lines. This new mailing address will take effect on October 1:

NIDMAR & CSSEA Joint Project Funding

Members are reminded that the joint pilot project between the National Institute of Disability Management and Research (NIDMAR) and CSSEA is ongoing and access to grant funding is possible as part of the project. Employers can apply here to have their workplace disability management program assessed; as part of the assessment, employers will receive a complimentary report that identifies gaps. Subject to remaining funding, members may also access a subsidy for return-to-work/disability management program improvements. To learn more about the project please visit the NIDMAR pilot project page or contact Steve Inouye, NIDMAR Director, Program Assessments at: 778-421-0821, Ext. 218 and or via email at: steve.inouye@nidmar.ca

2025 Compensation and Employee Turnover Report

For members who have not yet submitted their Compensation and Employee Turnover Report, CSSEA’s Research and Knowledge Management team is still accepting late submissions given the heightened importance of accurate member data on this bargaining year. If you have any questions or need assistance completing the report, please contact research@cssea.bc.ca.

Telus Connected Worker Webinar

Telus provided a webinar on Lone Worker Safety Solutions in June and members who wish to access that webinar recording can do so here. This tool enhances employee safety through real-time monitoring and emergency response capabilities. It streamlines member operations by enabling seamless communication between front-line workers and head office staff, as well as an option to select 24/7 professional monitoring that can dispatch emergency services when required. Members who want to be kept up-to-date on news about the solution, including product information, quotes etc., are asking to fill out this form.
