In Recognition of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and Two-Spirit People (MMIWG2S+)

Today, and every day, we recognize Red Dress Day as a time to honour and remember Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and Two-Spirit (MMIWG2S+) People. The red dress has become a powerful symbol of the lives lost and the ongoing impacts of violence rooted in colonialism, systemic inequities and discrimination. We acknowledge the importance of listening, learning and taking meaningful action in support of Indigenous communities and we reaffirm our commitment to doing so.

Tentative Agreements Reached

As announced last week, CSSEA’s Bargaining Team and the Community Social Services Bargaining Association reached tentative agreements in late April for all three of the sector’s collective agreements. We thank the parties involved and are particularly grateful to our Employer Bargaining Committee for volunteering their time and expertise to ensure the interests of Employers were pursued throughout the bargaining process.

Ratification Meetings and Vote

The virtual ratification vote will be conducted from May 14-21, with an anticipated ratification date of May 22, 2026. With that, we invite Executive Directors, CEOs and excluded/management staff to attend one of several ratification meetings so they can hear highlights of the 2025-2029 collective agreements and ask any questions they may have prior to voting. A bulletin containing the schedule, registration link and Summary of Changes was e-mailed to the primary bargaining contact of each agency on Friday, May 1. If your agency did not receive that e-mail, please contact Doris Sun, Director of Communications, at: dsun@cssea.bc.ca so we can verify our bargaining contact records. The bulletin has also been posted to our Members Area, under Bargaining/Bargaining Updates.
