Why can I not access certain pages on the website?

In June 2003, security controls were added to the website to provide different levels of access: public, associate and member.

I forget my agency's username and password. What should I do?

If you are a CSSEA member or associate, first ask your Executive Director to whom the username and password were assigned. You can also obtain your username and password by contacting the Communications Coordinator or by telephone at 604.601.3113 or toll-free at 1.800.377.3340. Please note that your username and password are assigned to your agency, not to individuals at the agency – you only have one set.

Can I change my agency's username and password?

You cannot change the username but you can change your agency’s password to an alpha-numeric “word” of your choice. Click here and follow the instructions.

Should I give out my agency's username and password to staff?

The username and password have been issued to the primary contact of each agency. It is the responsibility of the primary contact to determine which individuals at their agency, if any, should have access to the CSSEA website.

How can I open a pdf document?

Many of our publications, news bulletins and other documents are in pdf (portable document format). This format is popular for the internet because the on-screen layout of the document does not change when opened and can be opened on a Mac or Windows platform.

To open the file, you must have the program "Adobe Acrobat Reader," available free of charge on the Internet. Click on the following link to go to Adobe's website where a free copy of the software can be downloaded and installed on your computer:

(Please note the program file is large, almost 9 MB. If you have a slow modem, it will take a a few minutes to download.)

Follow the steps outlined on the website, and in five minutes or so you will have all the necessary software to open pdf publications on our website or other websites on the Internet. (When the program is installed on your computer, it will appear on your desktop.)

How can I copy a pdf document into Microsoft Word?

Option 1
Open the PDF document and a blank Word document. In the PDF document, click the Select button on the tool bar. Using your cursor, highlight the text you wish to copy. Click on Edit and select Copy. Switch to your open Word document. Using your cursor, click on the area you wish to place your copied text. Click on Edit and select paste. Your selection will appear in your document ready to be edited as required.

Option 2
You can also save a whole PDF document into a Word document. Go to File, select Save As. Click on the drop down arrow at the Save As Type field and select Microsoft Word (.doc). Once it’s saved, you can edit at will.

How do I find something on the website if I can’t see it on the navigation bar?

Go to the search window at the top right of any page on the website, type in a key word or key words and click “Go” or go to the site map.
