Bargaining Today
On August 15, 2011, the community living services and general services bargaining teams reached a tentative deal with the Community Social Services Bargaining Association of unions (CSSBA), thus bringing 2010 bargaining to a successful resolution. Aboriginal services members reached a deal shortly after and employees from all three service divisions ratified their respective agreements by a wide margin. The negotiated agreements are in effect until March 31, 2012.
Commencing in February 2012, CSSEA members will be engaged in collective bargaining with the CSSBA. The following statistics highlight the upcoming round of bargaining:
- 200 employers are involved in these negotiatons:
- 5 at the Aboriginal Services (AS) table,
- 102 employers at the Community Living Services (CLS) table, and
- 93 at the General Services (GS) table.
- This covers over 7,000 unionized full-time equivalent (FTE) employees.
- Employees from the social services sector are represented by 11 unions, who are represented by the CSSBA
